Click here to watch Evangelist Weldeyesus Bufebo comments on Adiamseged
My name is Evangelist Weldeyesus Bufebo, and I am country director of Bible League Ethiopia. I am a married man and have three children. I have served for ten years as coordinator of National Youth Ministry with the Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church. Currently, I am engaged in organizing bible study groups, and training the youth and distributing bibles and bible study guides to facilitate the ministry. That is the major duty of Bible League Ethiopia and that is why I was very pleased to find this book. First of all, I praise God for our brother Adiamseged. I am really grateful to God for him. I appreciate the fact that while living in a developed country where all facilities are available, he was able to take the time to write this book for us. While I was reading this book, I was praising God for him. There are not many people nowadays who dedicate themselves to writing a book. Some people may write books, but they are mainly interested in the business. I have read this book. By the way some people are confused about who wrote the Book of Hebrews. And others say that the Book of Hebrews is too difficult to interpret owing to its depth in Jewish context. However, when was reading this commentary by our brother Adiamseged, I felt very happy. It is a book that is written in a pleasant style, coherent, and written in a way that is suitable to the context of the audience. So I call this book a commentary giving both teachings and sermons. Some books lean toward teaching only while other books tend to give only sermons. However, when reading this book, I have found that it to be teaching-preaching-expository-commentary. It contains teachings along with good sermons and commentary. It is strongly related with the times in which we live, and offers wide views and analysis with practical life applications. The book is written with such clarity that any lay person who has not been educated or has only a beginner’s level of reading skill may read it and easily understand what God was saying through the Book of Hebrews to the people of those days, and what God is saying to us today. So when a person is reading this book, they will easily understand what Christ has accomplished on the cross and in tearing the curtain from top to bottom. One will see how Christ has redeemed people from tribes, languages, and nations, and made a new man thereby uniting Jews and Gentiles. This book is not just about the rituals of one religion. It teaches about how to conduct personal life, social life, supporting the poor, how believers should watch out for themselves, sharing what they have, and living sacrificial life. It also speaks of walking faithfully along the path of life that God has laid out. When we see the Old Testament, it is mostly about what we have to do and the consequences. It says, do this or else. But this book speaks of what Jesus has done for us. It gives us boldness to walk in liberty and faith in what Christ has already accomplished for us. It brings the message of the bible close to our lives as it is written in Amharic. It is so wonderful that after living for a long time in a foreign country, the author managed to write so clearly in Amharic without throwing in too many English words. We say, “allegory” using the English word to make our speech sound smart. The message presented in this book is appropriate for the time as well as for Ethiopia. The book relates everything with our times, with the lives of the youth, businessmen, leaders, and scholars. It feels as if he was sitting in Ethiopia while writing the messages. This shows that he has a burden for our country and for the new generation. Seeing that it is so well prepared, I recommend it for believers to use it in group bible studies. In the future, I hope another edition of this book, or the teacher’s guide to the Book of Hebrews, will be prepared. I have found that this book contains both teaching and commentary. That the author has organized the book in this way is extremely helpful to readers. If Christians should use it in discussion, or if necessary, I think our brother Adiam will prepare another edition of this book containing discussion questions for the congregation and for youth groups designed to facilitate group bible studies. I server as a director of Bible League Ethiopia and we prepare and distribute many bible study guides. We also organize training programs. That is why I loved this book and read it from cover to cover. Seeing that Adiam has so much skill to write such big books, surely he can prepare smaller books too that will accompany the big books as study guides. That will be very good. This book should not be left on shelves. It should be in the hand of every believer. There are about eight families in my neighborhood of Jemo who are from different churches and we have fellowship with them. We studied the Book of Hebrews together and we had a lecturer of Evangelical Theological College with us. Some of us also have been to theological colleges and we helped each other in completing the study of Hebrews about two months ago. It was after that time that I came upon this book. When I saw it in Temesgen’s hand and asked if I could go check out the title, he gave it to me and said I should review it. Upon which I leaped with joy. My wife and I have been reading it together every morning and have gone through some chapters but have not finished it yet. But since I have gone through it, I can comment on it and I praise God for this ministry. May God bless our brother for dedicating himself to this important work. There are other people who also have written commentaries on the Book of Hebrews. However, those books are more suitable for bible schools and theological students, and not for the average Christian who has no time to go to bible school. But this book, if Christians dedicate themselves to studying it, it will help them understand why the letter to the Hebrews was written, and what God’s purpose was for His people in those days, and what do we get out of it today. It is a very important book. It is a voluminous book; yet, it is one of the most readable. You cannot get tired of reading. It is designed with easy-to-ready layout and once you start reading it, you cannot stop. Sometimes, we tend to give favorable comments to books just to avoid offending the authors. Our brother Adiamseged is not here and I don’t know him; I only saw his photo. However, there is no bluff in my comments. I am very well pleased with the book. Therefore I want to say, God bless you and your ministry. I want to see these books distributed throughout Ethiopia. There are many Ethiopians in America who speak excellent Amharic. If the book came here with comments from them, we could have said that it was a book written in the country of the ferengis and let it stay there for the ferengis. But he has brought it here for us to read and to comment on which shows his maturity. May God bless his life, his family, and his ministry.
