My name is Pastor Melakeselam. I serve in the Gospel Light International Church. I have earned a degree in Mission from Evangelical Theological College and a master’s degree in Mission from Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology. I also have a master’s degree in Christian Education from Lead Star College. I am here before you today to comment on our brother Adiamseged’s book on the epistle to the Ephesians. It is obvious that our brother has really worked hard on the book. As I have seen personally, it is a useful book for the youth as well as for all the saints. We can see when we read our Bible that discipleship is strongly connected with reading the word of God. When Jesus Christ was answering to the Pharisees some questions on the Sabbath or when He spoke about what David did in the temple, He was making reference to the scriptures. He was saying, “Did you not read in the scriptures…?” He was also referring to the scriptures when answering questions about marriage. We can see from the Bible that the early church consistently used the scriptures in the process of making disciples. So, the importance of God’s word in discipleship cannot be overemphasized. And we need books like this written with the Ethiopian context in view to help us understand the Bible. We often hear that our reading culture is weak. We cannot deny that. However, we must also recognize that the books which are available are not very appealing to a reader’s appetite. There are many useful books in the Christian community but some of these books are not so well written and as a result not attractive to the reader. The book our brother Adiamseged has written on the epistle to the Ephesians clearly shows that he has worked very hard on it. May God bless him. We really need to encourage such people. Those of us who have been to theological colleges have the skill and experience to understand books written by foreign authors. However, there are many ministers whom God is using in His kingdom but who cannot read and understand English books. Writing books, commentaries and references for such people is of great value. When writing this book, our brother has given us a detailed background on the letter to the Ephesians. He has also given us in-depth analysis of Greek words. He has also provided a verse by verse exegesis and toiled in the process. I encourage you all to read the book. Moreover, he has consulted other commentaries allowing has to see how others understand the message instead of just imposing only his own understanding. Above all I say that the book is well written in that while other books which are translate from English are presented according to western culture while our brother has written this book originally in our language and in a way that suits our culture. It is really a good book. He has included basic Christian doctrines. Our brother has explained in details some doctrines which are mostly difficult to understand. Moreover, he has provided a biblical balance to the teaching of prosperity which is spreading throughout our land. I personally encourage you to read this book. I was to say God bless the writer. The book has really impressed me. I have read many Amharic books but never like this. Our brother has written this book wonderfully. Our brother Adiamseged, may God bless you abundantly. As you have worked hard in putting together this book on the epistle to the Ephesians, I believe that it will be used of God to bless many readers and people will benefit a lot from it. I personally want to thank our brother. This work is truly a significant contribution to the church in Ethiopia. So, saints and especially the youth, I call upon you to purchase this book and take advantage of it. It can also help those in the church who are engaged in compiling Bible study guides. It is a great reference work. I encourage Bible school whose medium of education is Amharic to buy this book in bulk. God has raised this brother for the church in Ethiopia. And those of us who have come through theological schools should learn from our brother and write commentaries on other books of the Bible. Many people can benefit from such works. False teachings and questionable practices are running rampant in our country. Books like this one are effective tools to check the spread of error. May the church purchase this book and present it for the blessing of generations. God bless you. Thank you.
